Foam Roller

The first self-massage tool I give every client.

Why this one

A dense 45–60 cm foam roller is the highest-leverage piece of self-massage kit for home use. The mechanism is largely neural — mechanoreceptor desensitisation, DOMS reduction, range-of-motion gains (Behm & Wilke, Sports Med 2019). Useful for the lateral line, TFL, QL, and thoracic region. Note: foam rolling does not "release fascia" in the way manual deep-tissue therapy does — it's a self-myofascial pressure tool, not a substitute for hands-on work.
